God’s Heart for Relationship

The vast desire and capacity a woman has for intimate relationships tells us of God’s vast desire and capacity for intimate relationships. In fact, this may be the most important thing we ever learn about God—that he yearns for relationship with us. “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God” (John 17:3). The whole story of the Bible is a love story between God and his people. He yearns for us. He cares. He has a tender heart.

Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me.” Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! (Isa. 49:14–15)

I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart. (Jer. 24:7)

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem . . . how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing. (Matt. 23:37)

What a comfort to know that this universe we live in is relational at its core, that our God is a tenderhearted God who yearns for relationship with us. If you have any doubt about that, simply look at the message he sent us in Woman. Amazing. Not only does God long for us, but he longs to be loved by us. Oh, how we’ve missed this. How many of you see God as longing to be loved by you? We see him as strong and powerful, but not as needing us, vulnerable to us, yearning to be desired.

dancing in the rain [safe inside]

i love having a skylight window,
in the morning i see the blueness of the sky
when i wake up and always know what the weather is like
this afternoon i sat here looking when storm clouds gathered
in the horizon and then stormed with lightning and thunder
and rain over my city

to lighten the mood i listened to this

have to remember to buy and umbrella soon, have a feeling
i'll need one this spring season

...on love, sex, faith and other relationship issues part I

A hare krishna boy once approached me at high street and asked if he could be my friend.
I told him that I unfortunately don't befriend quite that quickly.
After a short conversation he told me that I am dangerous.
I asked him if he knows why he feels so. He asked whether I am a christian.
"Yes I am." "So do you go to a church then?" was the next question.
(And conveniently church bells rang somewhere in distance.)
"No I don't, not that often."
"So what do you do then?" he asked.
"I try to live true to to what I believe in.
I, with my friends, learn to be kind to all people,
to study Bible, pray, eat together,
share life
and seek justice."
"Are you in celibacy then?" he enquired.
"Yes I am, as a matter of fact, want to be until I get married. I believe that sex is God's gift for marriage."
"Ha, this is where our beliefs differs", claimed the hare krishna boy, "we don't believe in physical pleasure."
"I am sorry", I said.
"Have a cookie, I have baked them myself", he said.
"No thank you", I replied, "don't want to anything from you but thanks."
Our conversation continued for a while. I offered to pray for him. He was delighted by the offer.
Another time another place a friend of mine wondered if there is sex in heaven.
I don't think so. I imagine that sex, as a satisfying, intimate and beautiful,
physical, emotional and spiritual connection
between husband and wife is probably the closest picture
of heaven that we can experience here on earth.
Well there are some other things that an bring
such a feeling of connection and fulfilment,
to laugh uncontrollably in happy company and feeling safe,
singing your heart out with others, a heated satisfying sports game,
to dance wildly until you are out of breath...
I don't know, these are just my random thoughts...whaddaya think? :)

si señor...the issue is connecting.

We long to be deeply connected with someone and something. We live in such a times of individualism and deep loneliness and resignation and divorce. One of the most beautiful things about 24-7 prayer and all these other prayer movements is about restoring the connection. As this is why Jesus came on earth, to fix the connection that had been broken, connection between God and man and connection between men. Prayer rooms and our attempt to live true to our values (prayer, learning, hospitality, justice, creativity, community) -- they are all about restoring the connection. In the prayer rooms we have made space for people to sing, dance, paint, or just bow their heads down in silence, in solitude or together and in that way connect to God and to each other. I like it.

Best travel-mate?

Besides Jesus? :) Best travel mate doesn’t sweat over small stuff, is confident and relaxed but determined (enough that we would get there eventually). Someone who is happy to drive but let’s me drive too. Someone who’s ready to pull over on non-stopping lane of a motorway, when the scenery is just impossible to pass by without stopping to take a photograph. Someone who is happy to help carrying my luggage without making a number of it and appreciates my attempt to find us perfect spot for lunch. Someone who is safe enough to lean on when you can’t find good position to sleep in the plane. Someone who understands that cockroaches in the shower are evil enemy that we must fight against with united front. Someone who is happy to come kill spiders in the middle of the night even if I’d be perfectly capable of killing them myself. Someone who is ready to take down the car roof down somewhere along the highway and sing out loud and let the wind blow our hair crazy. Someone who knows that I’m often late but never when it would really be wrong and is fine with it.

"Entering the Company of the Great Explorers"

...this breeze seems to be whispering sounds of lands my eyes have not seen/ these dancing sunbeams telling stories of shores my foot hasn't touched/
stars flickering above promising to guide us/
clouds burning heaven's high five's/

call of a nomad/
explorer/
runs through my veins/
longing for those adventures at my fingertips/

And no, I don't expect you to be my adventure,
but it would be nice if you would invite me along
I am loyal I won't quit
But I can only be there if you have initiated
